I know Beyonce–her Bootyliciousness–is the headliner, and I do dig her danceable pop perfection, and I know her stage show will be spectacular and rival Vegas for its glitz and glamour, but the real draw for me here is Robin Thicke. I was a late comer to his soulful, funky stylings (had been listening to mostly indie/rock/alt-country for apparently longer than I realized). Then I caught him on VH1 early one am and called my BFF (who never knows the bands I listen to–love ya Bess) and asked her if she knew this cat. "Of course", she laughed, and proceeded to tell me that she had been digging on him ever since his debut album Cherry Blue Skies dropped. That album didn’t do as well as it should have, but it caught Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes ear (maker of some the most funkalicious beats around these days) and the resulting The Evolution of Robin Thicke hit like a sonic blast. Definately check this show out–this guy will be headlining his next trip through Nashville. Tix are still available through the usual outlets, including Ticketmaster. Get funky!
